Jerwood Visual Arts is a contemporary gallery programme of awards, exhibitions and events at Jerwood Space, London and on tour nationally. Jerwood Visual Arts commissions and showcases the work of talented emerging artists, makers and curators. It also aims to make connections and provoke conversations within and across disciplines. Jerwood Visual Arts is an initiative of the Jerwood Charitable Foundation.
Jerwood Visual Arts launched at the Frieze Art Fair in 2006 and brought together for the first time the Jerwood Charitable Foundation’s numerous visual arts projects and today makes up a third of the Charitable Foundation’s activity and revenue.
The current exhibition programme is comprised of our annual touring exhibitions Jerwood/ Film and Video Umbrella Awards, Jerwood Drawing Prize, Jerwood Painting Fellowships, and Jerwood Makers Open, all of which are open submission and Jerwood Encounters, our series of one-off, curated exhibitions that do not currently tour. For more information visit our Current Exhibitions pages.
A series of Talks & Events by artists, curators, writers and educationalists accompany exhibitions at Jerwood Space and on tour. We also host a writer in residence who critically and creatively responds to the exhibitions at Jerwood Space on the Blog. Debate and discussion is encouraged so please log on to have your say.
Previous Jerwood Visual Arts exhibitions include the renowned Jerwood Painting Prize, Jerwood Applied Arts Prize and the Jerwood Moving Image Awards. More recent exhibitions include Jerwood Contemporary Makers and Jerwood Contemporary Painters both of which ended in 2010. For information on all our previous exhibitions visit our Archive pages.
