A commissioning initiative supporting early career photographic artists.

The Jerwood/Photoworks Awards are a commissioning opportunity for UK-based artists and photographers within ten years of beginning their practice and were launched in 2014. They support exceptional early career artists who are approaching photography in new ways and provide sustained critical and practical support over a year-long period. Three artists each receive £5,000, a mentoring programme and access to a significant production fund to support the making of new work for a national touring exhibition.

Selectors: Celia Davies, Director, Photoworks; Sarah Williams, Head of Programme, Jerwood Visual Arts; Anna Fox, photographer; Ori Gersht, photographer; Mark Durden, writer and artist.

Confirmed Mentors in addition to the selection panel include: Rut Blees Luxemburg, photographer; Tim Clark, Editor; Mitch Epstein, photographer;  Fariba Farshad, curator; Francis Hodgson, writer/art adviser; Michael Mack, publisher; Maureen Paley, gallerist and Mark Power, photographer.

The Jerwood/Photoworks Awards are a collaboration between Jerwood Charitable Foundation and Photoworks, supported by Arts Council England and Spectrum Photographic.
