Jerwood Encounters: This Must Be The Place

This Must Be The Place is an exhibition on the theme of ‘place’, with international projects using photography in a wide range of forms. Curated by writer and artist David Campany.
With projects from Dakar, Barcelona, Shanghai, Dresden, California and London, the exhibition highlights the importance of location for today’s photography.
Whether surveying a city for its specific character, unearthing a hidden past, speculating on the future, or looking at the effects of globalization on particular sites,This Must Be the Place is a timely assessment of how we understand locality, and a suggestive indication of the place of photography in contemporary art.
