Jerwood Visual Arts (JVA) is delighted to announce that the the second JVA Writer in Residence will be David Trigg.
David will begin his four month residency in May 2011 and will critically respond to Jerwood Painting Fellowships (11 May – 26 June) and Jerwood Makers Open (13 July – 28 August). He will work primarily on the JVA blog (blog.jerwoodvisualarts.org), posting thoughts and essays that open up wider contextual debate surrounding the issues and themes raised in the JVA programme with a focus on national and international issues and trends. David Trigg is based in Bristol. He studied BA (Hons) Fine Art (First Class) at Bath School of Art & Design (1998-2001) and has since become an art writer and critic. He is a member of the International Association of Art Critics and contributes regularly to a range of publications including Art Monthly, Art Review and Art Papers, as well as writing essays for books and catalogues. He also works as a freelance Artistic Assessor for Arts Council England. He has previously worked as Reviews Editor for Bristol arts publication Decode Magazine (2001 - 2004) and was employed at the Arnolfini Gallery (2005 - 2008), coordinating their Reading Room, compiling educational resources and writing exhibition guides.

The JVA Writer in Residence scheme has been created to give emerging writers the opportunity to develop their critical and creative skills and to provoke wider thought and discussion around the JVA exhibitions. Two additional JVA Writers in Residence will be selected to cover three writing slots in 2011.
